Spruceholme Inn is located in the centre of Fort Coulonge, in the Pontiac region of Quebec. It is the splendid former home of George Bryson Jr. and his wife Helen Craig. Built in 1875, this large stone mansion has hosted many distinguished guests, including Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Prime Minister of Canada.
With Bryson’s Bistro du Bûcheron and the Pontiac Conference Centre, Spruceholme Inn is the perfect location to host a retreat. Conveniently located an hour and 15 minutes from Ottawa and Gatineau, and 35 minutes from Pembroke, Fort Coulonge provides a quick getaway from the city to a serene and relaxing destination. We have 40 guest-rooms on site, a hot tub and sauna, meeting rooms and projector and sound system in our conference center. Our large conference centre offers lots of space for different work stations or group discussions, with plenty of natural light.
Bryson’s Bistro, our restaurant, attached to Spruceholme Inn, has become known for its delicious cuisine. Our Chef specializes in locally sourced fresh food, with spectacular taste! We offer a variety of reasonably priced menus, and would be delighted to customize a menu specifically tailored to your retreat’s needs and budget.
We also offer a property (five minutes away) at Bryson Point, where the Coulonge and Ottawa rivers meet. It features a 24 by 30 foot barn (winterized/AC) for quiet meeting space, with a beautiful view. This property has 1000 feet of sandy beach and shallow water, perfect for a refreshing dip. This is a spectacular setting for sunrise ceremonies. It would also provide a great spot to launch a canoe or kayak. In the evening, as the sun is setting, we can arrange an informal BBQ dinner followed by a campfire under the stars. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the region, 12 months of the year, including unique experiences such as: dog sledding, skiing, skating, white water rafting, zip lining, hiking, biking and so much more!
